- Don’t forget, a fax can only transmit black, so don’t include pictures or grey scale documents because they will probably be unreadable. They will also use up a lot of toner/ink by the recipient fax which aggravates people.
- Keep the message very simple – fax is a very direct medium but has a very short period of time for the eye to scan over the page
- Don’t try and squash more text in by reducing the font size – avoid going below 10 pt, preferably in a sans serif font like Arial, which transmits well on a fax.
- Use headlines and bullet points or brief paragraphs
- Keep it to one side of A4
- Try to avoid using faint lines as the fax is likely to have difficulty picking them up.
- Remember KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)
