Consumers and businesses can register with the Fax Preference Service (FPS) by contacting them on http://www.fpsonline.org.uk to request that their names are suppressed from Fax Marketing campaigns.
Under Government legislation introduced on 1 May 1999 is it unlawful to send an individual (or a partnership) an unsolicited sales and marketing fax without prior permission. Businesses also have the opportunity to register fax numbers on which they do not wish to receive direct marketing faxes.
DES always use the FPS suppression file on all lists supplied for Fax Broadcast projects.
