Layout and Navigation
We believe in creating an uncluttered layout - each page should be informative and clearly laid out, using simple typefaces that are large enough to be read and avoiding type over confusing backgrounds. Your copy is important, you want people to read it, so you need to help them as much as you can, so don’t use five words where three will do.
The use of bullet points can create a clear summary of whole subject areas – if more detail may be required, why not allow the reader to identify this and make this further information available as a separate page using the bullet point for a link through if the reader?
At all times we emphasise clarity of navigation. What are readers going to want to find out from your site and what do you want them to do? Any links or menus must be clear and easy to find – particularly the “Contact Us” page! Above all, navigation should be intuitive – inventing a novel approach to navigating around a site may look good, but if it isn’t what a reader expects, they probably won’t do it!
